 I. CORE/SWC THIN SECTION ANALYSIS: Detailed thin section descriptions (Polarizing microscopy) are integrated with point counting (PETROG, 300 counts x slide). Results are complemented by 3 or more 2D & 3D photomicrographs. TS descriptions and analysis include: Litho-type classification, rock classification (sandstones and carbonates), texture (grain shape, grain size, grain sorting and packing), matrix (clays vs. carbonate matrix), detrital & authigenic mineralogy, assessment of pore system and reservoir quality. Petrographic Provenance Analysis of Siliciclastic Reservoirs is also performed, upon request. Petrographic/mineralogical analysis of geothermal plays is also carried out.

 IIa. THIN SECTION CUTTINGS ANALYSIS: Thin section descriptions include 2-3 photomicrographs, visually estimated percentages of petro-types, petro-type rock classification, texture, detrital and authigenic components, assessment of reservoir quality & provenance characteristics of framework grains. Analysis is tied to wireline logs, if requested. Petrographic/mineralogical analysis of geothermal plays is also carried out.


IIb. ROCK TYPING ANALYSIS: It includes 2-3 photomicrographs of targeted cuttings rock-fragments and provision of poro-perm. analogs, by comparing the chosen petro-types with similar core samples with available CA and other geological data. 


IIc. Direct measurement of phi & K on selected drill cuttings sediments utilizing DARCYLOG (IFP methodology). Darcylog analysis includes: 1) Two photomicrographs of cuttings sediments (stereomicroscopy); 2) Lithological descriptions of cuttings fragments under optical microscopy; 3) Sample high-grading; 4) Sample cleaning (mud removal); 5) Sample prep. for phi & K measurements; 6) Phi & K measurements (Darcylog); 7) Interpretation of results and integration with standard TS petrographic datasets.

 III. SEM ANALYSIS: It includes 3 annotated images, with emphasis on the mineralogy of clays, structure of carbonate matrix, carbonate cements and authigenic silica phases, as well as micropore network-connectivity. Energy Dispersive Analysis of X-rays (EDAX) equipment can further provide a tool for mineral identification and semi-quantitative chemical analysis. Chemical Elemental Mapping of  SEM samples is also provided on request, to assess relics of diagnostic elements in calcite and other mineralogical phases (e.g. K-rich clays, Low Mg calcite vs. High Mg calcites).
